What is Herbalism?
Herbalism is a practice using plants to help support people and wider communities. Roots, leaves, flowers, rhizomes, and essences are mainly used. Herbalism looks at the different constituents in each plant and finds what best herbs suit each individual body. This is a tradition that dates back to every culture. It is the oldest known medical practice here in the U.S. Because of the long standing historical use of these plants, the use of herbs has been widely acknowledged as safe and effective.
What is an Herbalist?
Herbalists look at health in a holistic-based approach, often finding root causes of symptoms instead of trying to cover up a symptom. A herbalist looks at a person’s constitution, diet, lifestyle, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a person to find a well rounded plant based formula to fit their needs. Supplements, diet changes, and self care practices are often also recommended. If need be, a herbalist can work along side one’s general practitioner for complementary care.
